Social-economic development of the District

Kiev-Svyatoshinsky district is located in the center of Kiev region and envelops the capital of Ukraine like a washer on the south-western part. Besides of Kyiv it borders with Borodyansky, Makarivsky, Vyshgorodsky, Obukhovsky and Vasilkovsky districts, Bucha and Irpin city radas. Through the district runs 15 rivers: Irpen, Rokach, Bucha, Kozyntsi, Bobritsa, Nyvka, Moschunka, Gorenka, Gorlyanka, Vita, Siverka, administrative boundary area amounts 72 564 hectares, representing 2.6% of the total area of Kyiv region. The population is more than 155 000 people. Among the ethnic composition the largest portion is occupied by Ukrainians, Russians, Belorussians, Poles, Armenians, Jews, Azeris, Moldovans, Bulgarians, Georgians, Tatars ..

Kiev-Svyatoshinsky district - a picturesque jewel of Ukraine, where the best traditions of Ukrainian people, its material and spiritual heritage are consisted. The land, to which the territory of Kyiv- Sviatoshynsky district is concerns, for many centuries survived many events. By Zmiyovymy shafts, plowed by Scythians-tillers, trampled by Polovtsian horses, measured by steps of princely warriors, however, she has always been native home for our ancestors, their cradle, their immortal memory. This land saw flourishing and decline of the Kyiv state, invasion of Batyi’ hordes, slavery of Ukrainian lands by foreign invaders, the struggle of Ukrainian people against the social and spiritual slavery, tragically heroic pages of the Ukrainian revolution, "Stalin industrialization" and collectivization, Holodomor of 30th years, events of the Great Patriotic War and postwar reconstruction. Here led their troops Semen Paliy and Bohdan Khmelnytsky, here reaches the wave of Koliivshchyna. When the Soviet government was installed Alexander Parkhomenko, Nikolay Shchors, Gregory Kotovsky visited this land. And here, in the legendary Boyarka, wrote his fiery life pages Nikolai Ostrovsky.

With Kyiv- Svyatoshinsky district names of prominent figures of science, culture, art are related. M. Lysenko, Sholem Aleichem, S.Nadson, V.Samiylenko, Mariya and Boris Grinchenko, P.Nesterov, Lesya Ukrainka, M.Pymonenko, Sadovsky, Zanjkovetska, F. Merynh, V.Rykov, Bogomazov, Starytsky, M.Kotsyubynsky, Yefremov, families of Baikov, Bulgakov, Tereshchenko, Hrushevsky, Kistiakivsky, Rodin, Matushevskyh. The territory of Kyiv- Svyatoshinsky distrct survived a number of administrative-territorial changes. Here alternated duchy lands, parishes, districts, provinces, shelves, hundreds and districts.

April 4, 1937 the Presidium of the CEC of USSR issued a decree on the establishment of administrative districts, city councils, regional centers in suburban areas. Since then, Kyiv (Svyatoshinsky) area has been created, it consisted of the 33 villages and 3 town councils. By decree of the Presidium of the Verkhovna Rada URSR "On renaming, clarification and making changes in the names of some cities, regional centers of Ukraine" August 5, 1944 Kyiv region was renamed in Kiev-Svyatoshinsky region.

After the proclamation of "Act of State Independence of Ukraine" 24 August 1991, legislative and executive authorities of the country made ​​a number of important measures, aimed on improving of the administrative and territorial structure of Ukraine and bring it in line with the new charter of Ukraine as an independent state. Today around there are 52 towns, including 2 towns of regional subordination - Boyarka and Vyshneve, urban village Chabany and 49 villages in which there are 28 urban settlements, villages executive committees.
